For any new commercial or residential apartment construction should be mandatory to leave aside some place to plant trees.Say 1 tree per 2000 sqft of construction. In case of independent house more then 30 X 40 SQFT then 1 tree and nurture it.
Not only a good but also an essential idea, particularly in times of the climate change.
It is actually reasonable to request – „give back“ to nature – more than 1 tree per 2000 sqft: the more trees and the green, the better for the environment, as they have some essential ecological functions. They reduce noise, provide shadows, decrease the “urban island” effect (increased temperature in cities) and make air filtration. Last but not least, presence of trees make places much more beautiful and attractive, therefore increasing the quality of life!
But when choosing trees to plant it is essential to pick the species that belong to indigenous species and fit in the climate of Bangalore. Alien species would displace the indigenous trees and thus the native animal species.
